DAVID & LORI-LYNN, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort; Golden, BC; July 24th, 2010
I’ve always said that one of these days, I’m going to write a book! Saturday’s wedding with David & Lori-Lynn was another chapter of great stories, hair-raising adventures and amazing people! (David & Lori-Lynn…you were the amazing people part).
The hair-raising adventure began as Abi & I tried to get to the wedding on time. Despite leaving with an hour and a half to spare, we only barely arrived in the nick of time as we experienced a whole host of traffic delays. The worst of these included three 20 minute stops as construction crews alternated long lines of traffic through a single open lane along a 23 km stretch of BC highway.
Next, we narrowly missed being hit by a rock slide on the approaches to the Golden town limits. We literally looked in the rear view mirror as a section of the rocky cliffside collapsed into the roadway behind us. Had we been three seconds later, our vehicle would have been buried!
Then we had to wait for a very slow moving freight train to clear the line before we could complete the 10k climb to the resort parking lot!
Needless to say, we did arrive before the start of the wedding…but only just!
The rest of the day was fantastic as Dave and Lori, being the adventurous couple they are, packed their day with non-stop fun! It featured a gorgeous mountain top ceremony with breathtaking views, a helicopter flight, a trip to the Golden Fire Department and I’m only just scratching the surface.
Here just a little taste of what we were up to! Dave & Lori…thanks for a great day!

JON & KAYLEEN, Banff Springs Hotel, July 20th, 2010
Jon & Kayleen were married this past Tuesday at a simple but moving outdoor ceremony on the terrace of the Banff Springs Hotel. After a few photos with family & friends, it was off to the Vermillion Lakes to capture the special magic of this couple! Not only were they truly head-over-heels for each other, but Kayleen had a gaze that could melt butter! I think I could have photographed these guys all day! We capped it all off with a few shots back at the hotel before setting them free for the rest of their celebration!

SONIA & JACOB, Banff Springs Hotel, July 16th & 17th, 2010
I had the pleasure of spending part of two days with Sonia & Jacob & their family & friends as they celebrated their wedding here in Banff recently. The fun started with a wonderful Rehearsal Dinner on Friday night, where Sonia’s Aunties and Uncles performed a traditional Sikh ceremony that involved bracelets, milk & some tasty sweets! A traditional dance followed that involved some the Ladies wearing lanterns on their heads. As you can see below, everyone involved seemed to be having a great time. So much colour!
The following day provided amazing weather for a dramatic outdoor ceremony on Tunnel Mountain followed by a reception in historic Mount Stephen Hall at the Fairmont Banff Springs. Jacob & Sonia traveled to Vermilion Lakes for their wedding party portraits in style thanks to Highland Executive Chauffeur and their Silver 1952 Bentley. Owner Gerrard didn’t seem to mind when I encouraged the groomsmen to pile on top of the hood and fenders!
Thanks Sonia & Jacob for letting Abi and I be part of your spectacular Wedding Weekend!

The Wedding Day!

ROXANNE & RAY, Rimrock Resort Hotel, July 11th, 2010
Roxanne & Ray were joined by their families for an intimate wedding ceremony atop the spectacular Rimrock Resort here in Banff. The weather proved a “challenge” when sunshine gave way to a good luck rain shower just as the ceremony started. The sun made a dramatic return just as they shared their first kiss as a married couple !

BLAINE & ADRIENNE, Takakkaw Falls, Yoho National Park, BC; July 3rd, 2010
Saturday’s wedding had Abi & I shooting in front of Takakkaw Falls in beautiful Yoho National Park (officially Canada’s second tallest waterfall). Although the weather and light were a constant challenge, our couple, Blaine & Adrienne, were lots of fun and willing to pose just about anywhere! Thanks for bringing along the ‘sensible’ shoes Adrienne. We capped our portraits off with a trip up to Natural Bridge, located on the road to Emerald Lake. Along the way, the sun decided to come out, along with the agile young black bear seen below! Abi managed to grab about three frames of this little guy before he’d scaled the cliff (with breath-taking ease, I might add) and disappeared!

JESSE & STEPHANIE, Moraine Lake & Lake Louise, Lake Louise AB, June 20th, 2010
Shout it out for Jesse & Stephanie who celebrated their recent engagement with a wedding portrait session. They made a special trip out from Vancouver and now they’ll be heading overseas to China to prepare for their ‘official’ ceremony. Thanks guys for being willing to clamber over some rugged terrain and sit out a thunderstorm in order to create these images! Best of luck with the preparations for your upcoming wedding.

FREDDY & TONYA, Moraine Lake & Lake Louise Station, Lake Louise AB, June 21st, 2010
This past Monday saw Bee & I at Moraine Lake for the wedding of Tonya & Freddy of Redearth, AB. We had just the right balance of sun, dramatic storm clouds and a very passionate couple to allow us to create some spectacular images!
I hope you both enjoyed your portrait session as much as we did!
Wedding planned by Angela of Sweet Occasions.

ANDRE & MEGHAN, Chateau Lake Louise, Sat., June 12th, 2010
We recently spent a wonderful, warm & sunny (finally !) day with Meghan & Andre to photograph their beautiful wedding celebration. Their families & wedding party were all a joy to work with! The wedding was planned & coordinated by Connie of Elegant Banff Occasions.
We were lucky to spend the evening with them as well in the Mt. Temple Ballroom where much dancing was done. The couple treated their guests to a surprise performance by a belly dancer in honour of Andre’s families Egyptian heritage. Kids of all ages were dancing at every opportunity.

MARTIN & NICOLA, Moraine Lake Lodge, AB, June 10th, 2010
Nicola & Martin traveled from England to be wed at spectacular Moraine Lake. During their ceremony atop the rock pile, a little June snow was seen as Patrica Compton presided over their marraige ceremony.
Fans of paddling, they didn’t let a little cool breeze deter them from taking a tour of the lake in one of the Lodge’s canoes.
I can’t wait to hear about your proper paddling trip at Telegraph Cove! Hope you are having a great tour of British Columbia.
Thanks for letting Abi & I be a part of your wedding day.

Nicky & Jane: June 4th, 2010, Emerald Lake, BC
Congrats to Nicky & Jane, who traveled all the way from the UK to get married at Emerald Lake on Friday. They exchanged their vows before an intimate gathering of family, close friends, and their rugby team! Thanks guys…you were great to work with… Go England Go!
